What's happening

Ambetter's parent company is leaving ARHOME

Here's what we know so far, based on reporting from July 2026. We'll update this page as Arkansas DHS releases open-enrollment instructions.

The change

Centene is exiting ARHOME in 2027

Centene — parent of Ambetter, QCA Health Plan, and QualChoice — will not renew its participation in Arkansas' ARHOME Medicaid expansion program next year, citing funding challenges. The company called it a "difficult decision."

Who's affected

About 210,000 Arkansans on ARHOME

ARHOME (Arkansas Health and Opportunity for Me) is the state's Medicaid expansion program for low-income adults ages 19–64. Enrollees in the three Centene plans will be moved to other plans they're eligible for — leaving Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield as the remaining ARHOME insurer.

2027 Plan Change Deadline

"Act by 12/15/2026"

If you’re being pulled off your current plan, now is the time to start preparing. The window to make a change runs from 11/1/26 through 12/15/26 at 5:00 PM, so don’t wait until the last minute. Getting ahead now gives you more time to review your options, ask questions, and make sure you’re ready when the deadline arrives.

Important: This is about the ARHOME Medicaid expansion program specifically. Ambetter is not leaving Arkansas entirely — it will still offer ACA Marketplace plans in the state. This page is informational, not legal or insurance advice.

Am I affected?

A quick check

You're likely affected if most of these are true for you:

  • I'm enrolled in ARHOME (Arkansas Medicaid expansion).
  • My current plan is Ambetter, QCA Health Plan, or QualChoice.
  • I'm between 19 and 64 years old.
  • I have low or no income and rely on this coverage.

On a different ARHOME plan (like Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield)? Your plan isn't going away, but you may still want to review your 2027 options. We can help.

Have Ambetter through the ACA Marketplace (not ARHOME)? This specific change doesn't affect your Marketplace plan — but we're happy to help you review your coverage too.
